Hollows Graphic Novel

Those who keep an eye on Kim's blog, she just announced that she's started a script for a Graphic Novel. Now, listen to this: It's going to Ivy's point of view!

YAAAY!

And listen to this too: Kisten is alive! Meaning that has to be before you know what. I actually asked if this is going to be the Rachel/Ivy meeting novella she promised she would try. I hope it is, because she had left right when Rachel got assigned under Ivy in Dates From Hell. There is a huge and prominent history those two share before Rachel's stunts with FIB begin and they move in together.

Check here for Kim's words.

{Trent/Rachel} - The Witch Is Not OK

Written for lover100

Title: The Witch Is Not Ok
Author: revolizandiditt
Prompt: 009.Anything
Rating: T
Pairing: Trent/Rachel
Series: The Hollows
Disclaimer: Nope, don't own these characters, Kim Harrison does.
Summary: Rachel needs to leave the scene of the crime; that's all that matters. David brings her home, wondering why.

AN: Ok, this is the third installment of what I originally wanted to be a oneshot. Now, I have decided to make this a nonlinear piece of work. AKA, there is a beginning and an end....but not in that order. I'm sorry for the lack of Trent and Rachel involvement in this part, but you need to see Rachel in the state she was in when David brought her home to the waiting Ivy. (I know, the people familiar with these fics have been expecting the night of scene...but that comes later, I have decided.)

I highly suggest you read One Red Rose and What Happened? before you read this.

Blue Butterflies in WWBC and The Bespelled

When I finished WWBC, there was something that nagged me about the blue butterflies that Al conjured/created.  I only figured out why they bothered me when I read a few posts here- they come from the short story The Bespelled.  I really liked that short story and how Ceri was taken by Al is really quite chilling.  So, anyway, I've been wracking my brain and wondering what the significance of the butterflies was.

In Bespelled, Ceri keeps blue butterflies in her garden and Al destroys some by rebounding the curse Ceri sent at him.  Incidentally, it's the same dark fire curse Rachel later learns from Al in the underground transit center.  In WWBC, Al creates the butterflies and lets them die in the cold but then gives Rachel a cocoon she puts in one of Mr Fish's unused brandy glasses.

Now what does this all mean?  Is it the promise that Al will eventually get the better of Rachel too?  Feeding her honey instead of vinegar until she slips up?  In Bespelled, Al called Ceri "She was his little blue butterfly, seeking out carrion.".  Makes you wonder just what Rachel has gotten herself into...

.....

I think I'm disappointed in this new book... and I'm a little surprised at myself

Is anyone else feeling a little disappointed? Like.... the timeline went too slow or felt like nothing really happened?

ETA: Should have looked at the prior post where everyone and their mom is frustrated with this book. At least I'm not alone now.

Then how about this. I'm doing a quote roundup from White Witch Black Curse. Icons are begging to be made. Reply with quotes you want as icons. If you need an example of some of what I do I'm actually using an icon I made. :)

Rereading. And taking notes

Started yesterday. It feels like i read them too fast the first time, now everything is playing fast-forward in my head, the details there but not-there.

I'll keep this entry going with funny excerpts from the books. I've never done that before, let's see what happens. All are Kim Harrison's doing.

Starting with Dead Witch Walking:

Starbucks catering to uptown snits who needed sixty different ways to brew a bean in order to not be happy with any of them.

I'll keep adding to this in my LJ post here.

Ok, so I just finished "White Witch, Black Curse". Since there has been no discussion on it yet, I thought I would post my feelings on it, and whoever else is done, drop in and discuss!

I want to know what everyone thought about it. I know I have a few choice words for some parts of it, and some lovely words for other parts.

SPOILERS!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE BOOK!Collapse )
